We've also had cable tv (Foxtel) for over a year but last year I there just wasn't as much hype here [in Australia] as there is this year.
I guess that's due to YouTube and .. well, YouTube.

So on Saturday I decided to set IQ (our TiVo) to record Superbowl XLI. You know, to watch the commercials that cost millions!

I figured I'd also watch it LIVE so I waited until Jackie was done watching Mysterious Ways and then I started fast forwarding through the already recorded first hour.

NO Superbowl Ads!--- Foxtel/Australian promos.

ARGH!

C'mon a billion people are watching and only the US are getting the ads. You know that's why half of them watch it.

---
News Flash - Sam (from the greysection) just IM-ed me and said they weren't that great this year anyways.
---

I suppose thats a little bit of a relief. But still Foxtel should be so tight like that. Play the ads or people, like myself, will just go to YouTube after the game and watch them.

Chicaaaago (sh-kääääg, -kô-)

We (mom, Jackie, and I) arrived in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon. We decided to catch the subway train from the airport seeing at it was only US$1.75/each (bargain!). On the way we saw a horific accident on the freeway (the train travels along the freeway) where an SUV had rolled on it's side and the front windscreen had been totally smashed, bent, and skewed. So many police & fire units there.
40 minutes later we arrived at the station which we felt would be in about the centre of downtown. It was. But we had to walk our heavy suitcases up a whole bunch of stairs up to street level.
We caught a cab and 5 minutes later we were at the Red Roof Inn (RRI). On the way we saw a T.G.I. Friday's so we dropped our luggage in our tiny hotel room and went on a 80 second walk to the resturant.

Later that evening we went to the Second City (which is like a "Comedy Store") and we watched the funniest performance there!
Later that night (12:00am) we were watching cable television in our room and I was about to go to sleep and mom went to the bathroom to get ready for bed and we heard a "ohh" and we thought mom just did one of her silly trips or something. But then she started to say "Guys... guys... I need some help." I didn't think too much of it. I just thought she needed a hand to get up.
As I started to get out of bed she was saying "Guys call someone." and "Get a doctor guys. I'm bleeding." It was dark besides the light coming from the lamp above mom's bed. She had her hand against her head. I turned the lights in the room on. She pulled her hand away from her head. It had blood all over it.
This is when I become concerned. Jackie was over near the telephone trying to figure out what to dial. "Is it zero for reception? Do you want me to call 911?.... Mom?" She kept saying. Jackie was pretty much freaking out. I was keeping my cool because someone has to. Mom told me to find the travel insurance. Jackie got a hold of reception and told them to get an ambulance. 30 seconds later we heard the sirens.
Jackie got mom dressed, got mom's glasses/wallet/etc, whilst I got all the insurance info and changed from my PJ's to my street clothes.
When the paramedics (firemen, the side of the ambulance read "Chicago Fire Department Paramedics) came up we tried to figure out what she hit her head on. Mom thought it was the luggage holder which was in a cove in the wall. I thought it was the corner of the wall because that's where her head was closest to and what could have done that kind of damage. No one really knows what she hit but we do know she did trip over her massive suitcase which was lying in the middle of the tiny entrance-way.
They male paramedics bandaged mom's head and checked her blood-pressure (which we funnily enough were doing a few days before hand at Grandpa's house because CJ had a blood-pressure reader) etc. Then we took a 50 second ride to the hospital which was 2 blocks away.
A nurse checked mom out at the waiting room, then she did all the paperwork. As she was doing that Jackie told me too look around and listen to what's happening at the front desk. A lady a bit older than mom had done exactly the same thing! She tripped over her suitcase and bleed from her head. After that we just had to wait. By now it was about 1:40am. At about 2:20am mom decided she didn't want to wait anymore because we found out there was a 2-hour wait. A security man highly suggested she wait but she didn't want to. He said to come back around 7am when it would be realllly quiet. So we caught a cab back to the RRI and mom requested a bigger room. We moved into the larger room which included a fridge and microwave and was two floors higher than the previous, smaller, room. We went to bed (time now being almost 3am).
The hospital called mom around 6:30am and told her it was empty and it would be easy to see a doctor now. She needed staples in her head (similar to stitches), three of them. She walked to the hospital and back because it was so close. She was back at around 8am. We slept until about 11am.
I can't remember what we did between 11am-3pm. My memory is shocking! OH! I think we got some Dunkin Donuts. Not quite sure.
After 3pm just Jackie and I headed to the internet cafe which was a 60-second walk. We used some free 15min coupons which we got the previous day when we used the internet there.
Then Jackie and I went for a walk to the Sears Tower (233 South Wacker, haha Wacker!, Drive). On the way there was a new McDonalds (Mickey D's) which took up a whole block of land and is two storeys high with elevators and escalators to assist you to the upper level. Pretty cool. Same food though.
After a munch we continued on our journey, blocks and blocks from the hotel. It was a very foggy day. I kept looking up to see where the tower was but we couldn't see it. We only had to ask one person to see if we were heading in the correct direction. We were. We finally came to it and looking up the top was covered by fog. At the entry they warned us that there was ZERO VISABILITY, but we didn't care. We wanted to experience the 103-floor height anyway. Once we got to the top all there was to see was white. Ta-da!

Tomorrow... As I was driving to the resturant we were behind the other car because we didn't know how to get there. We were stopped at a traffic light and my Grandpa Sarge was in the rear seats of the car infront and he looked back at me driving so I waved. He gave me the middle finger. lol.. he's such a funny guy!

On Saturday it was Sarge's 80th birthday party (his actual birthday is in June). Many family and friends were invited. The cake had images from when Grandpa was very young and in the military imbeded in the icing. The taste of the cake was fair.
After the party Michael, my uncle, had a bonfire at his giant shed not to far away from the party venue (the party room in a bar). Today we washed our clothes at Anne's house (we we're staying) because they were smelly from the fire smoke.

I also just finished mowing Anne & Ray's colossal lawn with their tractor mower! Lots of fun! I got some of it on video too. Those ride-on mowers have some power babby!

Off to Chicago in a few days.

USA (Pekin, IL)

Well Well.. We hired a compact car in LA and it was a Mazda 3. Boy it was nice; triptronic (sportsmode or whatever you want to call it) transmission, very powerful, cruise control, lots of room, etc etc. I got to drive it most of the time (Ie, from LA to Santa Barbara and back). Yeay to that!

Now LA was wicked. So nice and clean. Although no one uses there indicators and along highways there practically isn't a speed limit because no one obeys the 65mile/hr limit which isn't posted very often anyways.

So we flew to Chicago. It was warmer than LA and not as nice a welcome; bit more smog, etc. The car we hired was also a compact but it was a Chevy Cavalier, old but looks really cool on the outside, and boy did it bring us back to reality. So dodgy inside. It once had been smoked in. It has no guts (power/torque, whatever), cruise control but a really crap type, doesn't have the cool triptronic gizmo, and the brakes.. well start breaking ahead of time. OH, and the power steering is hardly powerful at all! Hmpf Hertz let me down this time!

Moving on.. DEREK! Boy I miss Sarah, Pierre and all you Australian folk. Mom drove half way from Chicago to Pekin, Illinos (Near Peoria) and I drove the other half (Ie. right to my Grandpa Sarge's driveway IN Pekin).

Boy Grandpa Sarge just as cool and funny as I remember! He's got all these new seedlings sprouting in his breezeway area, most vegetables. We (Grandpa, Phyllis [Step Grandma], Mom, and Jackie) went out to lunch at a pizza place called Monicles (I think) which we always go to when we're here and Grandpa was telling us dirty jokes. haha! I've been doing a lot of videoing. Today I videoed a squirrel. Grandpa Sarge also has a TiVo. He's got the original playstation too. He's such a cool guy!

Today I woke up at 1:30pm (last time we were here in Sept. 2000 I slept until 5pm) and Grandpa said "Wow, I think you slept the whole clock around! Infact you did! I like that kinda guy." hehe

Right now its in the 50°F's outside (Ie, it's cold; 10°C+) and it's way warmer in the house we're in which is located about 20mins from Grandpa's house in Pekin. The area we're in is called.... wait for it.... Kickapoo. And we're on the border of Kickapoo State Park, so it's pretty spooky driving along the lonesome roads. I swear it's where "13 Ghosts" and/or "Gothika" was filmed. Lock the doors kids. :S

And as midnight just ticked over it's time for beddie-byes! The house we're in may as well be two houses stacked on top of each other. Downstairs, the quest's quarters (of half is more like it), has two bedrooms with king size beds, a massive lounge room with cable tv, a kitchen, and of course a bathroom. Upstairs is the same but bigger.

Oh, one last thing. I haven't seen a Krispy Kreme store yet. BUT, I am going to the very first Krispy Kreme store when we visit Winston-Salem, North Carolina in about a week or so. :)

Good night all.

Ps. If I can find time I'll put some nifty pictures on here :)

USA (Santa Barbara 2)

Last night Jackie and I headed to bed at about 10:30pm but then there was the Cable TV right in front of us. After flicking through about 100 channels we watched "Wild Boyz" (A wildlife version of "Jackass" - We have it on Foxtel in Australia). Then after that was over at about midnight we decided it was time for sleep. But I was soo bored! I decided to message people in Australia as it was around dinner time there. Then Jackie and I started to attack each other (pulling hair etc etc) to get extra tired and collapse and sleep. It kinda worked.

We woke up at 12:30pm. I set a cell phone 'wake up' reminder set for 8am but I turned my cell off before bed and they don't activate if the phone is off. Thus, the extra long sleep-in. I don't normally sleep-in that late in Australia.

Anywho.. today we went to Montecito. It's a nice nice part of Santa Barbara. Lots of clothing stores for maturely aged women. Nice cars roaming about.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HAHA! We're watching DirectTV (cable tv) and there was just and ad that went along the lines of: "Teenagers that eat with the family at dinner time are less likely to drink alcohol or take drugs." Jackie and I cracked up laughing.
Another thing we've noticed with ads over here is that alot of celebrities are in them. One funny one is that cartoons like Marge Simpson, the wife from the Jetsons, and the wife from The Flinstones.. they all are on ads for Dove shampoo. With their hair looking way better than it does on their respective tv shows.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving back to what I was talking about. This evening we went to a resturant called "Cava", once again, in Montecito. Gail (mom's friend whom we're staying with in this niiice house) said that celebrities often come to this resturant. The food was great! Jackie and I drew with crayons on the brown paper table cover. Billy's Mercedes S-Class that we got there and back in is sooo nice!

I'm constantly being distracted my "The Fresh Prince" which is on Cable. So I may as well go watch it. That's about all that's happened today anyway. Until tomorrow... or the next day. Cheerio my darlings.

USA (Santa Barbara)

Hey y'all!

I'm in the nicest house in the hills Santa Barbara. Facing the ocean and with a magnificent interior! It's currently 12:58pm here but my blog will say this was posted around 5:58am because it's set to Australian time. Almost time for Merrick & Rosso. :( I haven't been able to find the frequency for KISS FM here yet, but I saw a billboard for Disney Radio so we listened to that for a bit. That's pretty much just the music that 2dayFM plays in Sydney. There's also JackFM which is a bit like MMM or JJJ.

There's a dog that lives at the house we're in and it's name is Jellybean. hehe. Anywho, I have to depart to the shops for now. I brought the incorrect Nokia charger with me because its an old one. So I'm going to go get one here. I haven't spent much money yet; just on food. Cheerio and until later on..

Take care Sydney. I am educated there on Tuesday evenings, Wednesdays, Thursdays (from 9am - 9pm, 12HOURS!), and Friday mornings!

The course I am taking is Digital Media Certificate IV (the highest cert. before a diploma) which is mainly computer based but also employs painting, drawing, sketching, and theory relating to design groups.

Its a pretty hectic course but I have a slight advantage seeing as I did the Cert II over years 11 & 12 in high school, and thus I know much of the software used etc.

If there's any questions you have about my TAFE course feel free to ask me on MSN (djsteen@hotmail.com) and I'll update this post.

I also have my first job in retail. Just think how rich I'd be right now if I started when all my other friends did when they were 14 years of age.

Anywho, I work with the team at SugarFix at Warringah Mall in Sydney. It's a candy store which sells international candy which and receive from importers! Very hyper-active work environment!

I work there when I don't have TAFE at the moment.. the only day I really have for socialising now is Saturday. But that's fine for me. I can just jam an incredible amount of entertainment into that 24 hours :)

Same as before.. any qu's about my job.. Right now you're probably thinking. Wow, I didn't know Derek Zoolander talks to God (Bruce Almighty). It's not like church you see in movies or whatever. I don't know why it's even called church cos we just listen to some funky music where I'm amazed at how tech the drummer guys are. They sing songs I haven't heard of, like Godly Moses ones, and there's the words but I don't sing because then everyone would stop and stare at me, although I'm used to that. Yeah, we clap our hands to the beat and it's funky. Then there's all these surfie guys whom talk about the environment and how they got into surfing etc. During their talk they'll say how we should tell everyone to come to church and tell everyone about God. But that's silly cos EVERYONE knows about God/Jesus. The whole story is pretty confusing but Sarah gave me the lowdown. I just know that if I talk to Bruce Almighty asking him for something to happen, it will. And that Jesus can walk on water and that Moses parted the Red Sea. That's a giddy story to me. Anywho, it keeps me from doing nothing on Sunday night and it isn't like they're forcing us to be there, it's fun. Some people take it past fun though and make it sound like you'll live a horrible life if you don't go on christian camps etc etc.. but anywho weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Come to churchio with us :D

H-h-Okay

If you're going to read this please read it all, even if that means you read 1/2 and then come back to read the next 1/2 later.

My mind, if I even have one, is about to run loose. *Stares at the wall with a blank face*

Whoa. okay. Yes, as I was saying.. anything I'm thinking or have been doing will probably be in this post. So if you want some good inspiration for the HSC or a short film or even something to do rather than sit on your ass, then here it comes (not 'cums', Blake) in random orders....

The Christmas holidays. The further away from New Years it got, the lazier I became. Occationally spending days on end inside the house. Sometimes getting so bored I would just sit at my computer for comfort. This was when I wasn't with Sarah or other friends like Chris L, Matt F, Paige, Tammy, Craig P, Craig T & Shezz (the main people that get upto fun with me and understand how weird I am, kinda).

But since school ended for The Class of 2004 I've hardly seen any of my grade. Which isn't what I wanted. We plan these wild missions to capture on video during holidays, but when the holidays come we forget or don't have time.

There's also people like Candace whom work alllll the timmme. I mean they'd be rich enough to afford an $82,000 car but there's time needed for socialism tooooo. I wanna be rich darn-garnet.
You see I've never, ever had a job like most other kiddies have. The legal, or whatever, age to begin working in Australia is 14yrs and 9months. Well it was when I was that age because everyone counts down to it. Just like counting down the days til our drivers licenses.
Moreover, I HAVE been out there over the years occationally putting job applications & resumes into stores but, sadly, I have not received any replies.
The second most recent job searching I've done was when I was just flipping through the Manly Daily (our local paper) and reading all the interesting articles until I came to the job classifieds which I proceeded to read. I came across a group interview for people whom could work during prime times (Thursday night - late night shopping, and the weekend) at City Beach in about a week from that day. I decided 'Hey, I'm going to this!'
At the interview there were about 40-50 people and I knew some of them. We were just told to stand up one at a time and state our name, cell phone number, and why we would want to work at a surf/skate store etc. I got a few laughs from the crowd which was a positive. :) I was called back for a trial. Yipppie! All signs led to I'd have this job. I did the trial and I cleaned up my section pretty damn good! After about 45mins into the trial I was asked to assist in rearranging all the caps into styles (flexifit & trucker) and brands (surf & skate). The guy, Stacey, who told me to do this didn't tell me anything else besides the requirements I just wrote.
I got stuck into it. After I while I got into a SLIGHT rut. There's brands: Independent, there's styles: trucker, and there's a model: (no idea. How good am I for the job, hey!)
I wasn't told anything about arranging models. I just put all the Trucker caps on one stand and the flexifits on the other stand, and a mix of both on the 3rd stand. I arranged them by brand and put all the models together on the stand.
Lets see if I can explain; If there was model A and it came in green, blue, and black. I would try and fit all the colours on the same pole-thingo. This is if there weren't enough for a colour-per-pole layout. This was fine. I could handle this. But when there's only ONE model R in the WHOLE cap area it's rather difficult to just put one cap on a pole so I'd just add it to a pole of the same brand. 9pm (closing time) came along and I was about 15mins from having a completely perfect cap area. But I was told to stop and fix some pants on hangers. Which was really simple and I made them sooo neat! I don't think Stacey was impressed by the way I did the caps even though I did an amazing job with what I had.
Also, my section had the girls bags in it. And how they're hung is the most stupid freaking design ever (and I'm not just complaining)! They have the same length poles as the caps and the poles are only slightly more spread apart than the caps. Thus, they are all squished up against each other and the poles should only hold about 4-5 bags maximum but on some poles there had to fit upto 10 bags! Which was impossible; I'd put one bag back on a pole and it would knock another bag down. I was beginning to think this place would need a major Derek-overhaul!
This was a paid trial, so that's good. It's been over two weeks since the trial and therefore I should be paid (I'll look and see if I have soon).

I was never called back or anything so I feared the worst - I didn't get the job. So I rang about 1 and a half weeks later to see what was going on and the person who answered said all the managers were busy and to call back later. But I couldn't call back later because I had my first day of Digital Media at TAFE (equivalent to university, but more hands on). To this day (7 days later) I haven't rung them again, but I should.

Before TAFE one day last week I walked around Warringah Mall (which is next to TAFE) and she wanted to get a job at a place called SugarFix which is a candy store which sells candy from all over the world. The Canadian manager said he needed someone for Thursday evenings (late night shopping) and weekends. Which is the only time I really want to work anyways, so I pondered about this job. Tammy has another job on weekends so she couldn't do it. I went in after TAFE another day and gave the manager my resume and we were going to book an interview in then and there but I didn't have my TAFE timetable with me so I didn't know when I was free because I have 20HOURS of TAFE a week, which I wasn't expecting when I enrolled for the Certificate IV course. I said to the manager that I would contact him over the weekend with a time. When I talked to him I made him laugh so this was a good thing. :)

My radio show on Radio Northern Beaches has been going ace! I don't stuff up anymore or leaving the mic on, lol. The only thing that hasn't been going as planned is listener feedback. I read out my e-mail and my website on every program but I haven't received any e-mails :( I suppose it's because, apparently, only the older people of the northern beaches listen to the station. OR it could be because the frequency can't be received at places like Frenches Forest & Belrose which are 1km from the station. But the reason for this is because they use low power transmitters which are located at each end of the Northern Beaches (Palm Beach & North Head - Manly), therefore in the middle the range gets very narrow and it doesn't reach the 15kms inland to the area where the actual station is.

There was two days in a row last week were I went and saw Candace working at the Fruit Shop at Forest Way. It's funny, because we don't catch up much on the internet seeing as she's working alll the time! Candace, you've also been a little behind on the humourous and intriguing e-mails. :( -- I know I know, so have I.. I don't think I've written one since last year. But I have this blog now which has pretty much replaced my fun e-mails.

Another thing which has made Sydney more boring is people going to uni; more specifically, people going to uni in faarrr away places like ENGLAND, WOLLONGONG, LISMORE, BATHURST, QUEENSLAND, DUBBO, CHINA. I might have made up those last two.. But I mean I'm doing TAFE 20mins from where I live and I'm getting higher Certificates than some. Mainly because I did TAFE in the last two years of school aswell.

Then there's Hayley. She's gone to learn how to make rotary engines in Sweden or something. Wait, maybe she's going to school there through a company called Rotary. Anywho, it can be boring with people like her. But weirdo's like myself can seem to manage.

One person who has been as much fun as all my friends mashed into a sugar cube is Sarah. She's one of the most amazing person I've ever met. Lets see who I've met; Mickey Mouse, Cameron Diaz - drunk, Donald Duck, Evermore, Pluto, The Gladiators, Sophie Faulkner, Bec Cartwright.. the list goes on. I'd say Sarah's the most amazing person I've ever met. The weirdness of us combined is enough to send people running for a taxi. She's so funny, so clever, so sexy, so funny, and so fun to be with, and so loveable. I don't know what I'd do without her! She's one of the first people who understands my weirdness because she's weird too. Most people think I'm a freak when I do psycho and rarely tend to join in. Whereas Sarah's always joined in.

DJSteen on RNB [90.3/88.7FM]

If you haven't been listening to my radio show or can't pick it up in your area, well it's been going heaps good! I took Sarah along. The menu was STRICTLY what was on the single page. Let me say I got two chocolate tarts (cake) for myself for dessert because they were so good and we/I didn't worry about them costing $13/each. Ahh we experienced luxury!!.. and the bathrooms.. wow, very flashy!

Onwards, we continued to Bass Hill to see Anchorman for the millionth time at the Drive-in. I looked it up on the map because it was relitively unfamiliar territory. I took the Great Western Highway which took soooo long to get there. We turned up about 20mins late, but the movie hadn't started yet and the guy said he'd let us in just this time. Lucky. Afterwards I went home the quicker way.. The Hume Highway.

The 15th.. Just the other day I went into the Manly clubs for the first time since being 18. Chris Lamb was planning to take me there on a quiet night like a Tues or Wed, but he said everyone was going out on that Saturday (the 15th) and I didn't mind, so I went.

We went to the Forestville RSL first and Lamb, Matt F, Craig P began to drink; I don't drink, Anita was Designated Driver. Then Anita drove us down to Manly where we meet Nathan and Sheridan (Sheridan drove). We went into 'The Steyne' which I once thought was like a certain stretch of clubs in Manly, but it was an actual club/bar. And quite a masssive one at that. It wasn't as roudy as I expected it to be on a Saturday night. I kinda expected it to be like NYE, but it was nowhere near that, which was good. I was in the club from about 11pm-12:20am and then Lamby asked if anyone wanted to go get a pizza from the shop on the corso; I went with him. By then there was a big line to get up to the bar upstairs so we had no chance getting back in then. We just chilled outside and decorated Shezz's motorcycle dented car. Not his fault, which is good.

When our friends came out of the club at about 1:30am-ish we decided to head towards home. I went with Shezz, along with Chris and Nathan. We dropped Lamb home and then decided to do something else. We went and washed Sheridan's car at a service station with the window washer squeegee things. That was funny. Then we drove around alot more and then we decided to go to a 24hr Mickey D's. We got there at about 3:15am and had to wait 15mins for the breakfast menu to become avaliable. I got some hotcakes and #brown. The Hotcakes suck compared to POTR's pancakes. We headed towards home again and drove around there for a while but then we decided we were super-nuts and wanted to watch the sunrise so we drove to the lookout at Beacon Hill and waited about an hour for it to rise. We then drove home at 6:15am and I slept until 2:30pm. Whoa.. crazy Manly night.. I don't think I'll do that for a looonnng while, well at least not club AND sunrise. I still feel tired.

First day of Twenty-O-Five

I'm SOOoOoo buggered!

My legs are pretty much paralysed from walking! Although my fingers are fine, and thus I will probably type out the whole night.. even though I sooOoo couldn't be bothered right now!

So Chris Fish picked me up at about 5:50pm and we headed to Paiges house in his car, which he likes to call a shoebox.

We meet up with our girlies at Paige's and that was when the our adventure turned sour. (OMG, I could not be bothered to explain but I will.) I'll explain this first:

The original plan:
Chris was to drive us in his "shoebox" to Manly and find a parking spot. Running through my head was: You'll find a park but no closer than 1km away. This meant Chris could not drink any alcohol for the night, but he didn't care. We'd walk to Manly to meet up with other friends and then dance around etc and wait for the fireworks on the beach.

The new plan (thought up less than an hour before we met the girls):
We would all catch a bus to Manly and meet up with everyone and wait for the fireworks. We would catch a bus because Chris finally blurted out that he'd promise his mom he wouldn't drive to Manly. Therefore Chris was able to purchase alcohol.

What happened next:
Paige got slightly angry because we'd already had a good plan, this made Paige's mom rather annoyed aswell. Sarah was getting in on the arguement saying to Chris that he shouldn't have done this. As for myself, I was walking on my toes on this colourful square carpet listening in to the conversation; I was just going to have a stress-free night. So we finally decided on the 'new plan' (look above).

We drove just up the road to Tex Mex and ate dinner. We then drove back to Paige's and left Chris' car there and then walked just up the road to Pittwater Place to get some confectionary for the night. Chris got some alcohol. We got a bus which was PACKED!

In Narrabeen we decided to change buses because quite a few people on the bus were doing that. We were on a Wynyard bound bus, so we would have needed to change to a Manly bus sometime anyways. An empty Manly bus came around the cornera few minutes later. SCORE! We got a seat on this bus! I was thinking in my mind that I would see my good old friend, Rhys, because the bus went through his suburb. And sure enough he was on it.

The first Manly stop heaps of people, including us, got off.

We walked to the Corso to find friends. I saw SOoOo many friends, from Davo and from the Basin in 2002 and sooo many other people I hadn't seen in a while.

We danced off and on outside at the outdoor dance club type thing. Saw friends, couldn't find the girls for a while, saw more friends, danced a bit more. Then Sarah and I lost Paige and Chris but we, nonetheless, went to go find a good spot on the beach to view the fireworks!

I got some pretty gravvvy photos which I'm about to load on the computer. (I'll put some on here and on my website asap!)

The night was good compared to what I expected. We didn't have to wait that long til the fireworks because we got to Manly at about 10pm.

All in all it was a good night. The buses back were reletively quiet, execpt for C. Fishy throwing a bit of a tantrum. I like the kid. He was a bit silly changing plans at the last minute, but everything turned out fine so I'm good.

We got home at about 1:30am-2:00am and went and chatted to Paigey's parents, finally went to bed/sleep at about 4am.

Today:
I woke up at the crazy hour of 9am and Chris had apparently been awake for a few hours already. The girls woke up around the 9:30am mark too. We watched some television, ate breakfast, lounged about. Chris left somewhere around 11am-noon. I just continued to lounge about with the girls.

Sarah and I went out in the sun and lay on the beach for about an hour. (Paige's home backs onto Mona Vale beach) Next, we walked to the shops.. but silly us.. NOTHING was open. So we resorted to the BP Service Station. Got some yummy junk food and walked back home to chow. We watched some more tv.

Sarah went home at about 4:45pm and I vacated Paigey's at about 5:20pm.

All a super duper adventure! Any questions, ask me. Omg.. that took me a while to write! Time for beeeed! (Photos below)

Peace.

Last Day of 2004

Tonight there's going to be lots of partying!

Firstly here's a good tip from Andrew G's "G Blog":

Watch your drink. drink spikers are the scum of the earth, but they'll still do it. This will be long. Honestly.

Thursday morning - the day of the formal - I woke up, woke up, and drove my mom to Bondi Junction for a voice over she was doing at Triple M. During the drive I got calls from Roger David at Warringah Mall. (That's the store I finally chose to get my formal suit/outfit from.) They rang to say that the suit may not be in until 4pm. I need it BEFORE then!!!

Let me fill you in a bit.

Wednesday 9th November 2004 (just over 1 week before the formal):
I rang about 15 stores looking for a chocolate brown suit with pinstripes (I'd already been into so many stores I got sick of walking around, thus why I'm using the telephone). Finally I rang the Roger David store at Pitt Street Mall. They said they had the suit, AND in my size! I told them to courier it to the Roger David Store at the Mall. They said yeay, I said yeay, everything was yeay!

13th/14th November:
On that weekend I went to the Mall, to Roger David and looked at a larger size of the suit. I also asked whether the one I'd ordered was in it. It wasn't. But it would be in on Tuesday at the latest. Nice I said. I picked a tie and shirt and mom layby-ed the whole outfit (in the correct sizes, which remember were still not at that store yet).

Then there was shoes. I wanted something interesting. Like something Ron Burgundy wears in "Anchorman". I thought it will take ages to find something like that for cheap. We walked past a General Pants store and told mom how I wanted to get two different coloured Converse "Chucks" one day. Then I saw the chocolate brown pair of Chucks. My mind said "unusual shoes for a formal", I said "Giddy up". Great, they didn't have my size. I ordered some in. They'd be in on Thurs (18th Nov - cutting it close!) at the latest. I gulped and hoped for the best.

Tuesday 16th November:
I rang Roger David at the Mall (by this point we knew the staff there really well) and the suit had not arrived yet. Then I rung General Pants at the Mall. The shoes were not in yet. Although I wasn't as upset about this, yet, because they would have ordered them on Monday (15th Nov).

Wednesday 17th November:
Same as Tuesday, same status.

Thursday 18th November (the day of the Graduation and FORMAL):
Now, as I was saying. I took mom to Bondi Junction to MMM to record her radio commercial on Thursday morning. We were a bit early so we waited in the MMM reception for a bit. We continually kept getting calls on my cell phone from Roger David. They were saying that the suit still wouldn't be in until the mid/late afternoon and if we wanted we could get it from another store such as Eastgardens. Mom went nuts. She spoke to the Roger David girl and said she didn't want to goto Eastgardens, she wanted it at the Warringah Mall Store. They said they were seeing what they could do etc etc, but the couriers were running slow etc.

It was time for mom to go do her voice over. I manned the phones (mom's cell and mine). I was listening to the radio (MMM) in the reception because it was on. lol. "Tough Love" had just begun (it was around 10:10am). Mick Malloy was asking for people to ring about having 'Zero Tolerance' for something. I pondered for a bit. Almost rung, and then pondered some more. Then I finally rung on mom's phone :p . A lady picked up and asked me what I had zero tolerance for and told me to turn down the radio and then told me to hold. I asked the lady behind the MMM reception desk if she could turn down the radio because I'd rung the radio station blah blah. She didn't turn it down much so I curled up on the couch and cupped my hand around the bottom of the phone so that only my voice could be heard but I didn't think that would work too well. So I went down the elevator (I was on the 25th floor). I went to the ground level and about a minute later I was on air saying how I had zero tolerance for bloody courier deliverers. I told them a short version of the story I told above.

Mick Malloy (DJ) said: "Well if you don't get it by this aftenroon you can go to your formal in your underwear and just tell everyone not to worry cause it will be here sometime tonight." I told him that my mom went nuts on the phone at the people.
Mick: "Hold on, you're in grade 12 and you're still letting your mom run your life?"
Me: Nah nah. She's just my negociator.
Mick: ahh
Robyn Butler (other DJ): "So she drives a hard bargain hey."
Me: "hah yeah!"
Mick: "Mate you sound like the kind of guy who doesn't have a date."
Me: "Course I do. I'm actually coordinating my outfit with my date's outfit. As I said I'm getting a chocolate brown suit, well my date has chocolate brown hair. Her dress is an aqua green colour, and I'm dying my hair that colour to match."
Robyn: "Wow, that's a really nice idea."
Mick: "Well good luck tonight mate."

After that I went back up the elevator to the MMM reception and sat there for about 5-10mins and mom was done.

MMM is in Bondi Junction. Eastgardens is about 20mins drive away. As if I felt like driving even further from home.

We kept in contact with Roger David (RD) at Warringah Mall and FINALLY they said they could get a private car (just some random I suppose) to take the suit from Eastgardens to the Mall store. Arrival time quoted about 2hrs from now (It was about 11:38am). Now remember the suit from Pitt Street Roger David was with the courier company so there, apparently, wasn't anyway to get it from them.

Then there was those 'Chucks'. We gave up on the General Pants (GP) store at the Mall. We found a GP in Bondi Junction Westfield and asked them if they had any. They didn't. Although GP at Bondi Beach did. I put them on hold. We went back to the car. Zoomed to Bondi Beach. Got the Chucks. Home James!

We got home. I continued to finish invites for my 18th Birthday party (it takes me so long to design anything). 1:15pm came along and I decided to leave bound for the Mall. Mom had to stay home and run NS Actors.

I drove around the parking lot a few times. I got a little impatient and gave up. I drove through the parking lot to a different one. One which Chris L had parked in the other day which I didn't know existed. It was close to a Myer. I walked down some stairs in Myer and through the clothing department and out into the Mall. At this point I was on level 1 so I had to get an escalator down to the ground level where RD was. A metre from stepping on the escalator I got a call... from RD. They said the suit was in. "Nice" I thought. From the escalator I would look left and saw RD only a car length away from me. I was rather.. ironic(?). Alas I did not turn left at the bottom of the escalator, I ran straight ahead. Went to Priceline looking for hair peroxide/bleach and Blue Fudge (permanent hair colour).. make that "Blue Hawaii". Priceline didn't have any Fudge so they told me to go to Price Attack around the corner. I ran there, almost colliding with a few people. Got the stuff and zoomed to RD.

They had it all there. They asked me to try it on (which I never thought of) just to see if everything would fit correctly. - Shirt: Small, Jacket: 38", Pant: 30" - It did, except for the pants. They were a bit tight, and they weren't even around my hips. Then there was a lot of "hmm-ing". I'm probably going to grow some more so I really wanted to get the 32" pants. They said they said they couldn't switch around the pants on a complete suit. - They = the RD Staff - They did say they could get the 30" pants "taken out" at a tailor somewhere around the Mall. They called one. It wouldn't be able to be done for about an hour. We went to one only 4 shops from the RD store. That tailor couldn't do it quickly either. More "hmms" back in the RD store. They finally said: "Okay we'll do it... we'll switch the pants." I said things like "Thanks so much", "Sweet", "Nice, thanks". I rang my mom from my cell (my bill is going to be soo high!) so that she could speak to the lovely RD girl to do a credit card transaction. Everything was done. Great. Nice. NEATO!

I ran back up the escalator, through Myer, up the stairs and to the car. I chucked all the items in the back seat and just as I opened the driver-side door to get in I got a call (I didn't have RD's number in my phone but it wasn't a private number so I recognised it and greeted with a nice "hey". They told me I left my tie. Gee Wizz! I ran back through Myer.. blah blah. Scooted home.

Quick shower and relax time. Dad hemmed the pants because they were a few inches too long in the length. lol. We didn't have long before the graduation started (we had to wear our formal attire to our graduation) so dad just duck-taped the pants lol.. nice dad ;)

Graduation:
Eh. (I hate the word "meh"!) It was so hot in the MPC (Multi-purpose centre) aka gym. [The school spent its money on a new mic and speaker system rather than putting come cheap ventilation in or fixing the bloody acoustics (it's a brick box)]

Yeah, so it was hot. We had to listen to "Musical Act" after musical act! And the principal blab on. And millions of claps. And more music. Award after award. Did I mention we were all wearing suits/formal attire?

When that ended we zooomed home to dye my hair. That's right. I didn't catch the bus (a rant I'm sure will be mentioned soon). Jackie (my sister) did some bleaching. I let that do its magic while I finished my invitations. Then washed it off in the shower. It was orangey-yellow, mainly because it was still wet. I dried and it was more yellow. Mom put the Fugde in. I let that do its work while I printed the invites. I washed it and it turned out exactly as planned! AQUA-GREEN :D - It matches Emma's dress. Noice!

Formal:
I got to the formal at about 8:10pm - It apparently started at 7:30pm - and nothing much was going on. Yeeww.. (cos I feared I'd be a tad late)

I went around taking photos. The view of the city from the Balcony was amazing! We couldn't see any animals though :(

Dinner came. Yuk. As usual. Chicken (one tiny piece). I LOVE chicken! Execpt it was stuffed... with some foreign substance. Thank you god, for bread rolls. :) I wasn't the only one who didn't like the chicken. Scott L, on my right, pushed his over to Kristian. After dinner I just went around taking more photos. Luke R's birthday was on the 19th Nov so there was a Krispy Kreme Doughnut pyramid there to celebrate his 18th year alive. Yum KKDs!

Dessert arrived without many knowing. People were either on the dance floor - shitty DJ - or outside on the balcony. I tried a bit of the dessert - meringue smothered in passionfruit sauce with fruit around - I didn't like it. I left it for the waiter to take back and went to dance. Wow. If no one has ever seen Blake dance.. you HAVE to! He's a great dancer. Style. Rhythm. Beat. I don't have a clue how to dance, without hurting myself - I got a very sore neck from head-bangning on Home & Away (Australian teenage drama, yes I'm an actor).

What a hectic time, hey!

There was no official after-party - yes, it was a pretty low entertainment formal. No where near as good as our grade 10 formal! - Although lots of people went all seperate ways to see if they could find a place to just drink themselves silly. The bus dropped everyone back at Davidson High at about midnight, after the formal. About 10-15 people stayed at the school. That was funny!

One last rant:
At our year 10 formal me and 3 others (I organised it) got the nicest car to rock up in - A 1960s Red Mustang Convertible - It was so good because the venue had a driveway where everyone would see your car. I tried to organise a big, stretch limo for our year 12 formal but everyone wanted to go on the bus. It's our year 12 formal! The last one!! How can anyone go in a bus.....
Later I heard that a group got the limousine I was going to get and they said it sucked because they didn't get the complimentary champagne (which was stated on the website), nor did the driver turn the funky neon lights on. I guess I'm kind of glad I didn't get that limousine then.

Was that long enough? But those 2 are the major geeky fans! I'll dust mine off monthly, if I'm bored.

I'm going to try to refrain from making a long post.

Chris drove us to Roseville Station, we caught a train to Town Hall, walked to a Gloria Jeans and Chris got his coffee while I ran to Oporto and got a Rappa with extra chili (to make up for the time I had one without chili - which was really distasteful!). I ran back and ate it at GJ's. Whoa! Hottness! Good though :) I got a strawb thickshake w/ Oreo from Mickey D's to cool down my mouth while we walked up Pitt Street to Myer.

All along the way the boys were spotting "Gentlemen's Clubs" while I was trying to get bloody Oreo through 4 straws. We walked upto one of the Clubs and at the door it said "For wheelchair access ring buzzer." lol. Shezz wanted to ring it. Then about 100m from Pitt Street Mall I saw a Krispy Kreme (KKDs) marquee and squealed. The other 2 couldn't see it yet. But I have good eyes for these things. We entered the line to buy the game because Chris was going to get it. The line was soo short, which surprised me. I guessed it would get bigger throughout the night. Nevertheless I went for a walk in search of a Virgin pre-paid mobile simcard starter kit.. thing. Went to various 7-11's (soo many of them in the city!) and finally found one. I raced back to the line and there was only 2 more people in it since I'd left.

Throughout the night there was lotsa of entertainment outside Myer. Heaps of personalities from Nova969 where there; Rabbit, Bianca, The Casanova's. Breakdancers, fire breathers, Xbox cheerleaders (guys were fanatic about them), etc. There was also this guy in the line, just infront of us, whom (from the beginning) I was sus about. He kept looking at what I was doing; setting up my new sim to send some 5cent msgs. I had soo much precious stuff on me (ie. autograph book, cash, camera, phone, walkie talkies, etc) I didn't want him to even think of knicking it. This guy was into getting a million of every free thing there was, as was I and everyone else, and his backpack was getting heaps full. He ended up being no threat to us, he kept cracking jokes. So he was ok, but I remained sus (I'm weird).

We got tonnes of free Xbox and Halo2 merchandise; everyone was wearing the caps, shirts, and light-up necklaces. Free KKDs, water, Coke (I don't like), and lil noodle things (don't like unknown foods) to keep us happy. There was a big clock which was being continuously watched by Gus (the guy at the front of the line - He was cool!). Rabbit held some fun competitions at the front of the line area.

Regurgitator and Evermore were occationally shown setting up inside for there performances which began at midnight; when Halo 2 went on sale.

Midnight came, we all went inside in an orderly fashion, I stopped a few metres before the register because I didn't want to buy it and I wanted to watch the bands. I hadn't seen 'The Gurge' live before. The were pretty good.. bit loud for the inside of a Myer store. So I waited where all the celebs and other band watchers (they came in after the initial rush of game buyers because they were in a different line) were while Chris bought his game (Shezz stayed with him). I waited for a while but they didn't come out. I got a call. They'd gone out a different exit. I watched the band for a lil bit more and then proceeded out to where they were. They both looked like twins; Halo 2 shirts on, backpacks on, caps on, lol.. the works. Shezz didn't even buy the game and he got a backpack (cos he had an orange band from when they were giving them out in the queue to people who were planning to buy the game) with loads more Halo 2/Xbox stuff in it. Which got me thinking.. I'm such a DUFFER! I go to these events all the time! Why didn't I just lie and get an orange armband thing too?!?! DOH!

Anywho.. who cares I don't really want to be promoting how much of a video game geek I am.

Blah blah blah.. trains weren't working.. had to get a bus to Nth Sydney.. then trains weren't working there either - it was about 12:30am - We ended up getting a Silver Service (they're the same price as normal taxis so don't ask the drivers, it makes them a bit cranky) which was soo nice to travel in; new Holden Statesman Caprice. Same price so I'm never getting a crappy normal taxi (if I EVER catch a taxi) again.

Got back to Roseville Station minus $10 from my pocket and $12 from Chris'. Shezz didn't bring any cash. What does he think? The city's free? Please! Go there more often people. If you don't you'll never appriciate the place you live. Most of Sydney is amazing! Yeah.. blah blah Derek.

Lastly we went past Shezz's.. I thought we were dropping him off, but he was going to get another Xbox controller to play Halo 2 at Chris' house. Then Chris was about to turn a corner which would be going away from the direction of my house and I said "Uhh wouldn't going straight be better?" He went straight and then explained how he thought I was coming to play the new game - it was now about 1:30am - back at his place. I told him I never knew that was in the plan and I was wayy too tired to do anything but sleep.

I went home.. and went to bed.. which is what I'm going to do now (after a shower); must be awake while I study more for my Geography HSC exam occuring on Thursday. Wish me luck. :)

So much for a short post. Craig your e-mail about not being on the "gay" topic didn't really work for me. We continued east on Mona Vale Road, dodging bugs and flys along the way (I might have made up the dodging bit). We arrived at Paigey's beachside home and witnessed her little brother dressed in.. a dress. It's definatly not unusual to see guys in dresses for people that go to Davidson High though.

Anyway. .. . We; Chris, Paige, Sarah and I, proceeded to the car and the question arose. "What are we going to do?!"
We came up with going to go check the movie times at Warriewood Cinema. We did, and the only thing worth seeing was "The Forgotten" - I'd watched it earlier in the day on my computer, just to see if it was good. Thus the others felt bad that I'd already seen it. I said I didn't care. After a period of 'um-ing' and 'uhh-ing' they chose "The Forgotten".

One problem. Hunger.

A couple hundred metres away was a Pizza Hut resturant. We couldn't eat a works meal in 7 (how cool does that number look, especially when u put a like through it) mintues so we decided we'd skip the movie.

We came, we ate, we iced, we made a mess. They put so much ice in the pitcher of water! There was only enough actual water for the 4 of us. We tried to get ice into our cups but the massive clump of crushed ice (looks like snow) would just stick to the bottom of the pitcher for a few seconds, and then it would go flying out.. getting about 1% into the cup and 99% onto the table. It was useless. But we all tried it. Many times.

It was really upsetting because the whole point of 'The Works' meal is to eat as much as you can - including ice cream! But nooo.. the ice cream machine was 'out of order' :( I hardly stuffed myself at all. We just decided, after a few plates of pizza and what-not, to just leave without making too much more of a mess.

Next stop - Mickey D's (McDonalds) playground. Sadly, this has changed too! These massive food chains aren't catering for lil kids anymore. :( All they care about is making the inside of the store all nice; McCafe, modern looks, health menu. It sucks! Yeah, wow, the inside doesn't look as trashy. But the tunnels in the playground was like something you'd see in Terminator 2: Judgement Day! Sarah N I went to go play in the tunnels and there we 10-16 year olds out on top of the tunnels hitting plastic McDonalds trays against the outside of the tunnels. There were parts of tunnels which had, somehow, been burnt. And it smelled - bad. :( At the last minute we saw it was a home to a rather large huntsman spider.. our cue to leave.

Looking for more fun - Sarah N I choose to take a maaasive detour back to the car, which we'd left Chris N Paige in. You know. To scare the crap out of them. We got to the car. They weren't there. Riiight. We looked around. Heard Paige calling. They were walking over from near the medical centre. hmm. More fun needed. Run! We ran. They strategically just stood near the car looking for us. We'd yell something and ran behind bushes/trees in the darkness to be hidden from Chris N Paige's view. But they saw us. Cripes. We eventually ran through the drive thru. Where we were cornered :( - Chris came up behind us through the entrance and Paige was waiting at the exit. Paige grabbed my tie and pulled me with it towards the car. Feisty. Meanwhile, Chris wasn't as firm with Sarah and she ran.. "RUN! I've been caught, but you can make a break for it! Goo!" I yelled. hahah.. boy it was hot running around.

Chris and I went back to the car. At this point I have no idea who was on what team because Paige and gone to go capture Sarah and but then they both started to run away. I drove round and round the parking lot until eventually kidnapping them into the car.

Now the extra fun! Cemetery! ("I'm like a biiird"... I'm listening to Nelly Furtado while writing this.. olld song.)

A recap:
On Halloween Sarah, Tammy and I went into Mona Vale cemetery and went to this hut thing and saw something or someone moving around inside. There was a light on. Looked like candle light. As we went closer the light became brighter. It was rather spooky!
To make a long story short, the light eventually turned off and that was our cue to leave.

So Chris, Paige, Sarah and I went into this same cemetry because Sarah and I were curious of this person (it looked like and old man because there seemed to be a bald head). We walked much closer to the hut this time we walked past it and roamed around the cemetery. Chris N Paige just sat somewhere and made out. Scaredy-cats. We (Sarah N I) saw things which we weren't sure we really there or not.

Sarah really wanted to knock on a door of this hut but I was all sceptical. :s I decided if she, or we, were going to knock to do it on the side where there was a window which we were looking at on the night of Halloween. We went over to that side. There was no window. :s There were reflective signs though. I couldn't make them out. Sarah went a few metres closer than me and said they read "Dangerous chemicals" or something. She said she heard a snoring sound. eek. I wondered if it was maybe just the sound of chemicals humming in a machine or something. No matter what it was we ran but I wasn't too sure whether I was still scared or not cos the signs confused me.

Blah Blah, if you weren't there you won't understand how scary and fun it was! Thus why you need to get on the Derek bandwagon and get out and have some quality Wizz Fizz fun!

We went back to Paige N Chris and they were cold. Sillies. They wanted to sit in the car. I agreed. Then Sarah N I roamed the cemetery graves some more. Found a random old - probably dead (ha ha) - bench situated in between two huge trees. Bit odd. We laughed there about that Asian lady who screamed such a terrifying scream and stacked it last Friday (29th Oct) at Macquarie Ice Rink. My golly that was funny! Soo many funny things have happened of late! Laughter is making me soo fit. No need to exercise if you've got laughter on hand!

Paige had to be home by 2230hrs so we left and went to her house for a while and watched some tv and a video I brought! Soo funny; Rowan Atkinson Live! The tape was like 10 years old and would sound static at times but it was soooo funny!

Yeah.. I've written too much.

OH! One more thing! Remember that horrible band "Hanson". They have a new song! No it's not a remake of their classic "Mm-bop". It's called "Penny and Me".
To my shock, Anna (Samaire Armstrong) from 'The OC' is in the video clip. While watching I was thinking of a funny MSN nickname (Seth, on The OC, provides them soo well!) and I thought I could say that Anna has moved away from the OC because she's gone back to her home town because the boys from "Hanson" are there and she wants to be with them. Seth would be so devastated if he found this out! ahh.. too funny!

Until the next fun time - Probably tonight - peace out!

XBOX Party in Sydney!

I'm not much of a gaming fan. (which I didn't - at the movies)

But the second half was resolving. It began to make sence. Jim Carrey's humour began to shine. And I was happy. But then as the end rushed to me it became sad (you know sad - Like "The Green Mile") and interesting and happy and sad and so on.

I think I'll have to go buy it and add it to my Jim DVDs. I downloaded the one I justed watched to see if it was worth it. shhhh =p

While I'm on the tooooooopic of mooovies...
If anyone wants one of there movies backed up I can do it if you just bring me a blank dvd±r and I can do it over night or whatever. If you want to permanently borrow a back-up of one of my many movies, feel free to just ask =)

Don't pirate movies though people, that's bad! Espicially if it's for profit! A slap on the hand if you even THINK about doing that kinda stuff!

Take care movie buffs!
Love me and Maria (My cute little cat walking around me right now).

MSN - Linking Derek to the world.

There's been a bit of a lull on MSN lately.

I don't know what I'd do with MSN. It's how I talk. I can think clearer when I type.
2004 is closing in and I hope after we commence into 2005 that people still use it often! Please keep the same e-mails at least then I can find out if you change cell numbers (heaven forbid!) etc etc.

I feel soo alone on a computer if I'm not talking to people. I need to be socialising or laughing constantly or my chest might cave in and my Krispy Kreme addiction might disappear..

Please make regular visits to MSN and if you need a chat just double click on my wacky nickname and I'll be glad to chat!

Take care now.
